Getting started
What is Savings and how does it work?
Savings automatically buys cryptocurrencies with a fixed euro amount every month. You choose the amount, the day, and which cryptos to buy. Set up a recurring bank transfer to fund it, and purchases happen automatically. This approach, called dollar-cost averaging, means you buy more when prices are low and less when they're high, averaging out your purchase price over time.
How much does it cost?
You pay 1% per purchase. If your plan doesn't execute one month because there weren't funds, you pay nothing.
What's the minimum amount?
10€ per month minimum. No maximum. You can invest 10€ or 10,000€ - the fee is always 1%.
How do I set up automatic deposits?
You need to create a recurring payment in your bank that sends euros to Coinmotion 3–4 days before your savings day. The payment details (IBAN and reference number) are shown in your Savings plan in the app. The whole setup takes about 5 minutes and only needs to be done once. Deposits and timing
When should I deposit money?
Your deposit needs to arrive 3–4 days before your savings day. SEPA transfers take 1–3 banking days, so if your Savings runs on the 15th, set your bank transfer for the 11th or 12th. This ensures euros are in your account when the purchase executes.
Can I deposit from someone else's bank account?
No. For regulatory compliance, deposits must come from a bank account in your name. We cannot accept transfers from friends, family, or company accounts that aren't yours. The name on the bank account must match the name on your Coinmotion account.
What happens if my deposit arrives late?
Nothing bad happens. If euros arrive after your savings day, the purchase simply waits until next month. Your late deposit stays as euro balance in your account and will be used for the next savings day, unless you use the euros before that. No fees, no penalties – the plan just continues next month.
My deposit didn't arrive – what should I do?
First, wait 3 full banking days – SEPA transfers aren't instant. Then check:
- Did you use the correct IBAN from your Savings payment details?
- Did you include your reference number? Without it, we can't match the deposit to your account
- Was it a banking day? Weekends and holidays don't count
If it has been more than three banking days and you've verified all the details, please contact support and provide a receipt for the deposit, downloaded from your bank.
What time does the purchase happen on savings day?
Purchases execute at midnight at the start of your savings day. If your savings day is the 15th, the purchase happens at 00:00 on the 15th. Make sure euros are in your account by the end of day on the 14th.
Managing your plan
What if I want to skip a month?
Just don't deposit that month. Your plan stays active but won't execute without euros. It automatically resumes the following month when funds arrive again. You can skip as many months as you want - the plan never expires or deactivates.
How do I change my monthly amount or cryptos?
Go to Services → Savings → Edit plan. You can change your amount, savings day, crypto selection, or allocation percentages. Changes apply from the next savings day onwards. Remember: if you change the amount or date, also update your bank's recurring payment to match.
My purchase didn't happen – why not?
The most common reason: no euros in your account on savings day. Check:
- Your euro balance on the morning of your savings day
- Whether your deposit arrived (remember, they take 1-3 days)
Your plan will try again automatically next month.
How do I cancel my plan?
Two steps:
- In Coinmotion: Services → Savings → Edit plan → Cancel plan
- At your bank: Cancel the recurring payment
Don't forget step 2 - otherwise euros keep arriving even though your plan is canceled.
