Managing your Savings plan
You can change, pause, or cancel your Savings plan anytime. Changes take effect from your next savings day onwards.
Editing your plan
Where to find your settings
Services → Savings → Edit plan
What you can change
- Monthly amount - Increase or decrease anytime (minimum 10€)
- Savings day - Switch to a different day (5th, 10th, 15th, 20th, or 28th)
- Cryptocurrencies - Add or remove cryptos from your selection
- Allocation percentages - Adjust how your amount splits across cryptos
Important after making changes
If you changed your amount: Update the amount in your bank's recurring payment to match.
If you changed your savings day: Update your bank's recurring payment to run 3-4 days before the new date.
If you only changed cryptos or allocations: No action needed at your bank.
What happens if you miss a month
Complete flexibility
Your Savings plan doesn't charge fees or penalties if there aren't enough euros on your savings day. It simply skips that month and tries again the following month. Your plan stays active indefinitely. Making a savings plan does not obligate you in any way to make the transfer each month.
To intentionally skip a month
Just make sure no euros arrive before your savings day. You can:
- Skip that month's bank transfer
- Temporarily pause your recurring payment in your bank
Your plan unchanged will resume automatically when funds arrive.
If you've missed multiple months
Your plan is still active and waiting. As soon as euros arrive before a savings day, it will execute normally. No need to reactivate or recreate anything.
Changing your bank account
When you need to update banking
- Switching to a new bank
- Using a different account at the same bank
- Your bank account details changed
Steps to switch banks
- Set up at your new bank
Create the recurring payment with your new bank using the same Coinmotion payment details from your Savings plan. The Coinmotion payment details (IBAN and reference number) never change – you'll always use the same ones regardless of which bank you're sending from. - Cancel at your old bank
Stop the recurring payment at your previous bank - Timing is important
Make sure the new payment is active before canceling the old one to avoid missing a month
Pausing vs canceling
Pausing (recommended for breaks)
How it works: Just stop depositing euros. Your plan stays active but doesn't execute.
Restarting: Simply resume your bank transfers. The plan executes on the next savings day after euros arrive.
Canceling (permanent removal)
How to cancel:
- Go to Services → Savings → Edit plan
- Select "Cancel plan"
- Confirm cancellation
Don't forget: Also cancel the recurring payment at your bank – otherwise euros will keep arriving with nowhere to go.
What happens to your crypto: Nothing. All crypto you've accumulated stays in your portfolio. You can trade, transfer, or hold it as normal.
Starting again: You can create a new Savings plan anytime.
